SCHUTZMASKE "SCHUMA" 90
The Huber+Suhner Schutzmaske ("Shuma") 90 mask is today replacing the earlier SM 74 models as standard Swiss NBC issue.

The SM 90 is an NBC/CBRN/ABC rated mask and is made of from polymeric compound rubber.
The mask features a drinking tube, a 6 point mesh head harness, locking head harness metal buckles.

In comparison to the Schuma 74, the SM 90 has larger lenses. This allows for a significantly wider field of vision. If required, dark lenses are available, to be installed in front of the clear ones - secured with springs.
Likewise, the new filter in the 90s mask has lower breathing resistance than the filter in the 74s mask.

Fogging of the eye lenses has also been remedied by using the inner mask to direct some of the fresh air flowing through the filter to the eye lenses first, where it flows over them.

This version of the page is configured like those provided to Swiss Air Force helicopter pilots and loadmasters.
This is actually a standard SM 90, modified with the installation of a M-101/AIC microphone to be connected to the helmet's (in this example, an ALPHA 200) comm system.

The mask is fitted with a corrugated extension hose to prevent the filter from obstructing the pilot's view.
The hose/filter can be secured to the flight suit or suitable attachment point where it does not interfere with movement, by a dedicated clip.
