Mk.1A (M)

This helmet was introduced at the same time or shortly after the visorless Mk.1. This specimen is shown with a H-Type oxygen mask.

As the Mk.1, the Mk.1A consists of an inner fabric helmet ( G-type) and a protective hard shell  with a Mk.2 sliding visor fitted.

In the Swiss Air Force the Mk.1A was used mostly during tests, and while conveying Hunters from Great Britain to Switzerland.

The Mk.1A was one of the two 1950 helmet evaluation finalists.
