Our D-3801 pilot is equipped with a Swiss manufactured 1940-50’s flight suit in blueish grey cotton, a Swiss modified LKH W flying helmet, Mod. 1050 flying goggles (Swiss license-manufactured Ratti style goggles), a Huggenberger oxygen mask, a T-30 laryngophone with a Swiss modified British plug, Swiss flying boots and a Salvator seat parachute.

This typical Swiss summer flying suit initially featured a stand-up collar, which caused frequent chafing of the wearer’s neck. With the army order Ordonnanz 1940 (effective from February 1941), which revised the complete uniform regulation of the Swiss armed forces, a notched collar as shown here was introduced.
