USN APH-5 VA-176

 | This APH-5 Flight Helmet belonged to Capt Rupert BROOKE of VA-176 (The “Thunderbolts”) during the 1963 USS Shangri-La (CVA-38) Caribbean Cruise. In 1966 VA-176 was transferred to the USS Intrepid and partecipated to three deployments as an Attack Carrier off the Vietnam coast. This squadron flew the Douglas AH-1 Skyraider until 1967, when they switched to A-6 Intruders. |
