The H-4-1 was obviously a Canadian adaptation of the U.S.N H-4. Early types were issued with standard B-8 goggles. Later, the Canadian upgraded it with a locally-developed visor. This very same visor was used on later helmets, too.

A standard MS22013 oxygen mask was fixed to inner helmet.

The H-4-1 was used mainly on F-86 Sabres, CF-100 Canucks, RCN F2H-3 Banshees and Sea Furies.
