The GENTEX 411 was the standard general flight helmet of the RCAF/CAF from the early '60 until the '80 (and possibly still used today).

The first version had an external dark visor of the same type used on the previous H-4-1

and can be seen worn by early CF-104 jocks.

Later versions had an enclosed single visor, while several types of knobs were used to actuate it.

The oxygen mask was connected to the helmet by the standard  "very typical" Canadian system.

On helicopters and light aircraft a boom mike was used .

On high performance aircraft the 411 was replaced by the DH41-2 dual visor helmet.
