This helmet was introduced at the same time with the Hawker

Hunter Mk.58 in 1958. The oxygen mask is a British "H" Type .

The MK.1A consists of an inner fabric helmet and a protective hard

shell.

Being a rather new design for that era (early '60), such

equipment was nicknamed as "bonedome" or "brain bucket"...

In the Swiss AF the MK.1A was later replaced by the H-5.
