During late '50, night flying was trained in DH-115 Vampires, by student wearing Polaroid M-1944 goggles with blue lens and the aircraft fitted with an orange colored canopy. This combination prevented the view to the exterior. Left- the head equipment of the student pilot, H-5, goggles and MS22001 oxy mask compatible with the DH-115 (British) oxygen system, fitted with the connector for bailout oxygen bottle. Right bottom- The goggles were stored in a solid "Sportex" cardboard box.

Swiss AF Aircraft being not equipped with CVR, the pilots were provided with small tape recorders connected in parallel with the communications system. A number of those devices were tested, two models
found able to withstand the number of "G"s required without failures. | ||

Operational checklists are provided for every aircraft model. They include normal and emergency, NBC, underground (cavern) operations and QRA procedures. | ||
